How to sign a PDF online from your computer or phone

A form to sign and send back? Here's how to sign a PDF online in two minutes, without printing anything and without installing software.

Step by step

  1. 1. Open the Sign PDF tool

On PDF Feel choose Sign. Everything happens in your browser, so the contract or form is not uploaded to a server.

  2. 2. Upload the document to sign

Drag the PDF in or pick it from your device. You'll see the pages ready to be signed.

  3. 3. Draw your signature

With your finger on a phone or with the mouse on a computer, trace your signature. You can redo it until it looks right.

  4. 4. Place the signature and download

Drag the signature to the right spot, adjust its size and download the signed PDF, ready to send.

Which signature do you need?

Not all signatures are equal. Before signing, check what the recipient of the document requires:

  • Simple electronic signature — the image of your signature on the PDF. Fine for forms, waivers, quotes and agreements between private parties. That's what you get with PDF Feel.
  • Digital (qualified) signature — required for deeds towards public administrations and contracts that explicitly ask for it. It needs a certificate issued by an accredited provider: you can't get one with an online editor.

If the document is a scan or a form you also need to fill in, you can add the text first with the Edit tool and then sign.

Frequently asked questions

Can I sign a PDF online for free?
Yes. Without an account you get 3 free processings on this device; with a free account you get 5 per month, for files up to 15 MB. No credit card needed.
Is a signature made this way legally valid?
It is a simple electronic signature: fine for forms, waivers and agreements between private parties. For deeds that require a qualified digital signature you need a certificate issued by an authorized provider.
What is the difference between an electronic signature and a digital signature?
A simple electronic signature is the image of your signature placed on the document: fast and sufficient in most everyday cases. A digital (qualified electronic) signature has full legal value equivalent to a handwritten signature, but requires a paid certificate from an accredited provider and dedicated software.
Do I need to print and scan?
No: you draw the signature directly on the screen, so you skip the printer and the scanner.
Can I sign from a smartphone?
Yes — and with your finger the signature actually looks more natural than with a mouse.
Does the document stay private?
Yes, processing happens on your device. The file is stored online only if you choose to save it to the cloud.
